I can sizzle like bacon, I am made with an egg, I have plenty of backbone, but lack a good leg. I peel layers like onions, but still remain whole. I can be long, like a flagpole, yet fit in a hole. What am I?
Have at it then. It's been a while since I've given a Roscoe out to anyone.

a corndog or a sausage pancake on a stick!
Jel,
I must admit that I didn't think of that as a possibility. I'll have to read it again and see if it fits.
Tom
sizzle like bacon , sausage does
made with an egg ,you use one in pancake dough.
backbone is the stick, and like a flagpole.
peel layers like onions, you can peel the pancake from around the sausage link. and still remain whole! and it's round an can fit in a hole, why I dont know!
Tom that may not be what you were going for , but that i tthought
I'm not good with riddles! :)
el,
Works for me. I think you are very good with riddles. I just didn't make all those connections. There is another possible answer that fits all those specifications, and its alive.
Tom
i'm horrible at riddles too!!
alive do you say,
if it wasn't for the backbone i would say a snake, what about a fish
Actually, you are correct, it is a snake. A snake has quite the backbone along with 145 pairs of ribs, (and me with no BBQ sauce). And, as Jel so aptly noticed, a snake does fit the riddle perfectly, or at least as perfect as a corndog or sauasage pancake on a stick. Thanks for playing.
...aaaaaannnnnnndddd the ROSCOE goes to Jel. Jel couldn't be here to accept her ROSCOE in person since she's very busy taking wonderful pictures for her blog, so accepting for her is Barack Oboma.
"Mr. Obama, thank you for coming out to accept this award for Jel. Do you know at what age she became such a good riddle guesser?"
"Well, whether you mean scientific riddle guessing or religious prognostication, I'm afraid that answering such a question with specificity is above my pay-grade."
U are sooooooo Funny!!!!!!!
and do you know that he and me are the same age
